Gran in the Midwest, Sept. 12-16, 2011

Hello Everyone!!
We are so excited about this year's Gran in the Midwest event, September 12-16, 2011. Ros Stallcup is ready to help you create five beautiful project pieces using her wonderful acrylic techniques. This is the 12th year that Jane Drynan has coordinated this really fun and creative workshop of Ros's.
The five projects to be painted in this year's seminar are:
1. A Della and Co. tin sewing box to be painted with ribbons, spools of thread, flowers and/or lemons.
2. Wooden brush box with garden scene complete with gazebo.
3. A glass pitcher filled with tulips and lilacs painted on a 16x20 stretched canvas.
4. A generous black tote bag painted with brown eyed susans and grapes.
5. Two 12x12 wood squares with garden hat, flowers, a trowel and watering can.
ALL PROJECT PIECES ARE INCLUDED IN THE SEMINAR FEE OF $450.00!!
Please note: Those who do not want to bring their own paints can "rent" a box of paints for $25.00 for the entire week.
Ros Stallcup will be teaching her wonderful florals and fruit designs in the Clarion Inn Hotel at 933 S. Riverside Drive, Elmhurst, Illinois, 60126, (630)279-0700. Our seminar classroom is a large workspace in the Waterford Convention Center which is connected to the hotel. Guest rooms are only $74.00 per night, plus tax, which includes a wonderful breakfast each morning. Mention that you are with the Gran in the Midwest group to receive this fabulous price!

Gran in the Midwest, Sept. 13-17, 2010

We hope you are considering joining us for Ros Stallcup's 11th annual Gran in the Midwest this fall. This week Ros and I are busy deciding projects for the seminar while we are in Wichita, Kansas getting ready for the annual SDP convention to be held here next week. We still have a few openings for the seminar. It will be held at the Ramada Inn Hotel in Glendale Heights, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. Here we are, dear friends for over 25 years! In the photo are Jane Drynan, Bev Birdwell, Ros Stallcup, Barb Smith and Char Stempel. We all met and got our start in the field of decorative painting because of one very special person - Susan Scheewe Brown. Sue is a fantastic artist and publisher of the finest books in the decorative painting field , as most of you well know. She invited each of us to be on her teaching staff, and she has been our teacher, dear friend and mentor all through these years. Thank you, Sue, for all you have done for us - we love you!!!!!

GRAN IN THE MIDWEST - 2008

Hi Everyone!
If you didn't come to Gran in the Midwest 2008, your surely missed a great time. As always, Ros Stallcup treated us to some wonderful projects to paint under her expert leadership and teaching abilities - what a beautiful painter, wonderful teacher, and special friend she is! A total of 34 painters gathered at the Ramada Inn, Glendale Heights, Illinois to paint Ros's fantastic projects-some of these gals have been with us all 9 years of Gran in the Midwest, and some were here for the very first time - however, everyone left with a feeling of camaraderie and friendship.
Why not join us next year, September 14-18, 2009. It will be our 10th anniversary! The $475.00 fee includes 5 full days of Ros's instruction, all surfaces and paint, plus a delicious lunch every day - what a bargain! A $100.00 non-refundable deposit holds your spot! Teaching in Japan

Hello Everyone!
Ron and I are packing our bags and getting ready to fly to Japan this Thursday, Sept. 20. We shall arrive at Narita Airport in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, Sept. 21. From there we shall take the high speed train (shinkansen) to Osaka where we shall visit with our interpreter and friend Noriko Utsunomiya, and stay with a very special couple, Michiko and Kouta Kuribayashi. Then, on to Nagoya to begin my teaching tour, visiting Osaka, Kyoto, and Kichikjoji before ending our trip with an extended stay in Kyoto. While there we will be tour guides for our cousins from New York! After returning home on Oct. 23 I shall add photos of our Japan trip to this blog site. I will also have more time to add more photos from our wonderful Gran in the Midwest! If you would like to keep in touch with me, just add your comments to this blog site. I will try to check it out in Japan when we are near an internet cafe.
